Hi Liam: 50-day and 200-day moving averages are popular short and long term trend indicators. Generally speaking if a stock stays above its 50-day MVA, it's in pretty healthy condition. If it breaks below that average, it's in some trouble, at least short term. If a stock breaks below the 200-day MVA it's usually a sign of bigger problems.

Remember that ALL TA indicators are psychological in nature and IMO should not be used on their own. You need the fundamentals, too. The more "planets" you can get to line up, the better.
