Hi Derek, I have read a lot of recent articles on ISDN,ADSL,and the RBOCS,there is a good one in americasnetwork this week. I will explain what I mhave gathered in knowledge and you can dispute it. Well it seems that the RBOC's don't have people who can install ISDN correctly,I guess there is something in the box that you should look for, slows down ISDN by 50% and not many installers know about it(something that checks for correct line?). Also I read that they have been charging some customers for business service fees instead of private because they think ISDN is only for businesses. Check your bill for that. I have read that ADSL(edsel) is just dead in the water and won't be implemented in any large way before 2000. Also there are only 800,000 ISDN lines. In amerciasnet it suggested that the RBOC's are not going to do anything substantial because of the telecommunication act has if anything made things more confusing. I also read there is a decision going to the supreme court about access fees and competition. I believe the pseudo-monopolies of the RBOC's will hinder any widespread implementation of new technologies for at least a decade. I believe that some combo of ATM and HFC will win over land, and some form of CDMA/pcs satellite will also become dominant. I dont know anymore than what I have read and am not an engineer. Please correct me where I am wrong,Tim
