My, aren't we the idealistic one. Is that insulting? Sorry, but I think you're being a bit naive. Most people get their religion from their parents, I wager, and in Chicago, I imagine Democratic affiliation works in a similar fashion. You think that's corrupt? I think you're the one being insulting.
That may seem an unlikely stroke of charity for the lawyer heading the Republican inquiry into possible impeachment charges against the president of the United States. But President Clinton could do much worse than Schippers, a salty Chicagoan whose Democratic bloodline runs hard through a clan of police captains and firefighters, and, most recently, a "radical feminist" daughter. Compare and contrast:
Isn't it obvious to you that the decision to belong to a political party, or a religious group, should be based on your personal values, and not on how favorable it will be to your career?
Does the NYT quote sound like it came from somebody who thought long and hard about his personal values before choosing to become a Democrat? You should read the article, it's quite complimentary. But to repeat, I think Schippers made his headlines when he came up with the 15 articles of insufficient cooperation with the Starr inquisition. I don't think there will be much new in the next 10 days, which is the current line on when things will be wrapped up. |
