The Vancouver Sun reports in a combined Reuters dispatch in its Thursday
edition that production cuts announced by Boeing could result in more work
for Delta parts manufacturer Avcorp Industries, according to a company
official. Reporter Alan Daniels notes that Dale Hunt, vice-president of
marketing and business development, says that Avcorp may be able to pick up
additional contracts if production previously done at Boeing's own assembly
plants is contracted to outside suppliers. Mr. Hunt says the aerospace
industry is being driven by Boeing and Airbus Industrie and they are
competing on price, so he would think it is entirely possible. He says that
Avcorp sees this initiative by Boeing as an opportunity to participate with
them in additional outsourcing potential. With a reduction in manpower of
the magnitude they are speaking, there has to be some opportunities that
Avcorp will be pursuing, according to Mr. Hunt.
