Paul, Re: "I'm not familiar with Miken's play, but I am pretty confident in stating that Bob
Cousy would be a SUPERSTAR in the NBA today (if there was an NBA today !)"

Agreed. The one player of the modern era that came to mind first that reminded of Cousy (well, second) was Magic Johnson. That's even though Johnson is 8 inches taller than the Cooz. Their passing, ball handling, ability to shoot a dozen different ways and all around field generalship were remarkably similar.

The first guy that came to mind was Pete Maravich (RIP), but he was more of a showman than a great team player.

Since we're in a spelling bee mood (AMD thread), it's Mikan.

He was great for his time, but more or less hung out under the basket waiting for a chance to use his hook shot from either hand. Defense and rebound wise, of course, Russell would have killed him.
