Syntel Awarded IT Consulting Contract by UMBRO International

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 1998--Syntel, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNT), a leading Applications Management and information technology (IT) consulting firm, today announced its Syntel Europe Ltd. office has been awarded a contract to provide IT consulting services to UMBRO International Limited, a leading sports brand.

UMBRO's product is used by leading soccer teams such as England, Scotland, Manchester United, Chelsea, Ajax Amsterdam, among others.

Specific terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Syntel Europe Ltd. will provide a host of services to UMBRO, including the areas of systems integration support, web site management, PC/network support, limited Year 2000 projects, as well as EDI development.

"UMBRO is one of the most successful sporting brands in Europe and we are excited about them teaming with Syntel to help leverage technology to globalise the UMBRO brand," said Ricky Shankar, Chief Executive of Syntel Europe Ltd. "Syntel will provide a wide range of IT services to UMBRO."
