Chuzz, It is my contention that the Large Houses such as Goldman etc. can work in concert to either Buy, Sale in order to put the Market as a whole into what I call a near position. The specialist I agree are the ones that SUPPOSEDLY KEEP ORDER in the market, the Houses are still buying and selling through the specialist and also the little known Order Clerk. What happens after your broker turns your order to the trading desk? The order clerk calls the market maker, who may not execute the trade as propitiously as possible because the stock is collapsing or going up too fast or if they simply want to stagnate the price. I agree that it takes a concerted effort on their part but with houses holding 30 or 40 million shares of certain stocks such as Dell, it is not difficult to conceive. If they can work in concert on certain stocks then it is not difficult to see how they can manipulate the market up or down not so much by their execution but the dissemination of negative or positive psychology. I am convinced that they want the market to get back to around 86 to 8700 and they can easily do this. I may be wrong but we will see. Money talks so much these days and 100 billion is a lot of money.
