Actually, there were two VERY SIGNIFICANT announcements from Pixar in the last year. In addition to announcing that TS2 was to be a theatrical release, Pixar announced a new deal with Disney in which it gets 50% of profits, as opposed to the 10-15% from the previous contract. This caused the stock to rise from the low 20's to the mid 30's from January to February of this year. (Actually, I would think that an announcement that Pixar would be receiving 4 to 5 times more in profits would cause a 400% to 500% rise in the stock price, not "just" a 75% rise.)

As for the $66 high this year, I think a lot of that was created artificially by a short squeeze in July. Unfortunately we're not getting that squeeze this month. : (
