I sincerely do not understand why ANTEC is doing this.

They had already warned regarding the possible international sales problem. They issued an upbeat announcement regarding LANCity modems being integrated into Arris Interactive and then ruined the party by including an OBTY (oh-by-the-way) we think 4Q98 is going to be worse than expected to the tune of 2 to 4 cents per share. They had not put a per share price on the earlier warning and none was needed. This just exacerbates the problem and the timing stinks.

We KNEW they couldn't repeat the 3Q results so why punish your investors by rubbing it in? Possibility of lawsuits like you said, but this is going overboard, in my opinion. Result is ANTC is down 4 1/2 points today so far. It is still up over 18% though from when they announced the AT&T deal in October. My opinion is this is the one day knee jerk (and I do mean jerk) over-reaction to this news. The other possible add on to the problem is the perception by analysts that LANCity is not a leader in the cable modem race and including it in the ANTEC joint venture is bad, not good. Even though ANTEC thinks it's good. But cable modems are hot now, not discounting some of the negative press they've been getting the last couple days (again, bad timing on ANTEC's part to announce a cable modem deal right when the TCI Fremont cable modem problems are getting lots of press). But short term Wall Street memory being what it is, that should all be blown over by the end of next week, at the latest.

My humble opinion, time to weather the storm, or buy in now. You will be rewarded next quarter, second quarter at the latest.
