Interesting way to spin the numbers, by going back to INTC's all-time high prior to the past few days and then measuring performance from that point. By comparison, a rough glance at AMD's chart looks like it has returned a "whopping" -25% over the past 17 months. Applying your technique, however would require us to go back a little more so we could say "AMD is now down a whopping 33% over the last 20 months." It would require another 50% surge from present levels to get unfortunate AMD buyers in early 1997 back to break-even.
We can make just about any stock look as good or bad as we want by carefully picking the time frame. But is it intellectually honest?
