I think it's really interesting that these conspiracy theories are now appearing. The DOJ, the judge, the press, and Microsoft's competitors are all supposedly ganging up on poor Microsoft, keeper of the Grail.

What conspiracy theories? I stated my opinion that it was wrong the way that the deposition videos were being played. I stated my opinion it would be counter-productive for Gates to have volunteered the information that another poster said they should have and stated my reasons why I thought this. These reasons were based on the way the press will slam the most eye-catching headline or news story onto the wire as quickly as possible without verification and offer a retraction later, as if this makes things right.

Baloney!

Do you honestly believe that the press has rigorously verified the "breaking stories" they report everyday (with details available later)? Do you honestly believe that accuracy has not taken a back seat to speed in today's instant media coverage? Do you honestly believe that people will wait for (say) ABC to get the story right instead of immediately switching to (say) NBC to get the quickest news? Too easy to switch channels with the remote as you don't even have to get off your lazy butt to do it.

As far as dissenting opinions, there will always be one in the story for "fairness," even if there's a 1,000:1 ratio of opinion, unless it's an editorial. These aren't conspiracy theories. They're the way the modern press operates.
