As a Developer/Scientist I agree with. As a mercenary investor I have seen that acquisition, when it works, can work extremely well.

All paths have risks, but where would AMD be today if they had not
purchased Nextgen? I am certain what they got in acquisition, but the K6 is a remarkably better product than the K5. It also appears
that while all the data is not in yet that the K7 may be the most best AMD work yet. I do know what they got from Nextgen, whether it was good luck, good people, or good technology but whatever it was I am glad that it worked out for the K6 and the concept of the K7.

As a developer you want to get your ideas out, and as an investor you
want to get the stock price up.
