Voltaire,
Nothing is keeping the transports from going up, but what do MMs gain from straddling DELL at the same time and if they are already holding the equity in inventory, why do they need liquidity to make profit from equity price appreciation? It seems to me that such is their urge to play multiple markets that they are willing to sacrifice profit in return. They may be making profits doing exactly what you say they are doing, but if you take the small investor out, who would they be then buying from or selling to? The answer is simple, other market makers; which would put the total profit for all market makers to exactly 0. Now I know that the small investor is very actively participating in the scam, which is why manipulation is profitable. Which is a shame.
It's this simple Voltaire, if you were a manipulating MM and you had only yourself to manipulate, you would not have made any profit doing so. You would need to rip somebody else off - the small investor in this case - to profit in the zero-sum game that you just described. Take the small investor out and your profits from manipulation would come to zero (negative, if you consider your efforts). Try pulling yourself up by your hair and you will see what I mean. IOW, DELL may or may not be manipulated but unless the small investors get frustrated and sell, the manipulators will make exactly zero profit. You haven't yet proven to me how this is not true.
BTW, I do think too much. Thank you for the complement.
