Mr Fun.

Please provide me with the URL's for your data... as I said the percentages don't match with the numbers I've got here. My guess is that part of the issue is that you're using multiple sources. Do the numbers from each of these sources (once totalled) equal one another. I bet not. What does that tell you? That tells you that these reports are not precise..... These reports are good for getting a bearing on overall market growth over time and market share fluctuations over time. IF you look at them as a single data point they will not provide you with a fully accurate picture and to view them as gospel will result in erred thinking.

ATM switching (BPX, MGX, IGX, ...WAN BU stuff) yes...well over $1B... I'm not sure where you're getting your data. The breakdown between campus and wan ATM switching is not known...so you can't possibly have any idea as to how much was campus based. You're guessing and throwing opinions out like BR now..

DSLAM's are not DSL modems. The largest provider of DSL services by leaps and bounds is USWest - a Cisco DSL shop. This data will become apparent come end of year... I'm now understanding that you're looking at old data.... perhaps with different reporting dates from different analysts....and then you add them up and say that CSCO is overreporting. Hmmmm, what's wrong with this picture...

Cable headends - nearly all MSO's are using the UBR already. I'm sorry but some of these are still unannounced so I can't provide any additional detail here.

Yes, the 2600 and 3600 are routers..unless their used as remote access platforms. contrary to what you might want to believe (or BR for that matter) the RAC market isn't only a Service Provider attribute. Yes, enterprises also have a need for RAC. Are you saying that a product installed by an enterprise is not worthy of the category. Does that mean an ATM switch installed by an enterprise is something else? Del'Oro is apparently ill-informed and didn't ask the question. It's not that they have "guts" it's that they are arbitrarily narrowing the reporting category after Cisco reported. If they want a narrower category then they should state what they are looking for. Are they reporting service provider RAC only? Is that what the study is about? If so, then I must have missed that in the title.

As for ASND.. I think ASND is a great company and I agree that there is huge upside here. I've never argued that they weren't and certainly would not. When ASND purchased SRA everyone here was whining and crying..WHAT! why would ASND buy a computer manufacturer...I was one of very few folks here that said it was good for ASND and that SS7 and OSS functions SRA provided would be a huge asset long term. So, believe me, I'm far from negative on ASND and can't recall ever saying anything negative here. Furthermore as I mentioned before ASND's success will assure CSCO's success - so I root for both of them. I should point out that contrary to what goes on here no one on the CSCO thread takes pot shots at ASND... and believe me there's been plenty of opportunity.

Good evening.... I'll end this conversation here....
