Joe,

I don't pretend to know what is going on, but as you pointed out, the NASDAQ was down 40 points, or 2 percent today. Dailystocks maintains a page of "major market indices" at their site composed of 29 indices. 28 of them were down today - the only exception being SOX-X - it was up 5.93, or +1.8 percent with a close of 332.71. It rose as high as 351.62 during the day prior to dropping at the close.

I don't know why PLAB and MASK were up so much today - maybe it had something to do with the announcement of MICN merging into FEIC. DPMI was also up considerably today, but faded right at the finish to close at its low for the day. PLAB was 3.9 times average volume today, MASK 3.3 times average volume, and DPMI 3.0 times average volume.

There is a lot of rotation going on within the group of 41 stocks. There are sectors within the sector of 41. The action tomorrow ought to be interesting!
