AMZN = 10$ stock. Why would one buy from AMZN when other book sellers on the net are selling cheaper than AMZN. Barnes and Noble and BAMM are two examples that sell books cheaper than AMZN. Both BKS and BAMM have real stores as well as web-based stores. Both of them are established companies making money. Instead of AMZN, buying BAMM makes more sense. For other items, companies like Costco, Walmart and KMart probably can beat the hell out in pricing. Just the buying volume of these companies existing store customers give them a big advantage in pricing the merchandise. A simple quick check of cameras at AMZN costs more than the local camera store here. Not to mention the convenience of driving to the store and exchanging with a different one if it is not to the liking. Why is AMZN then still at this outrageous price? a simple answer is to make a quick profit in a short time. Beware of getting in near the close hoping to catch some gap up the next day. One day AMZN will open down 50$ or so and then when one is thinking what to do, it will then go down another 30$ or so. Waiting the next day bring another 50$ drop. This scenario can happen anytime, maybe tomorrrow, maybe next week but seems like it's getting pretty close. Brokerage houses are protecting theirs' by requiring 100% cash, so when it drops to 10$ they don't need to worry about the speculators dissapearing and inheriting the account with negative balance. All imho.
