Countrywide Home Loans Joins Other Financial Organizations In Using The Work Number from TALX for Outsourced Salary and Employment Verifications
ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 1, 1998--TALX Corp. (NASDAQ: TALX - news) today announced that Countrywide Home Loans, Inc., the nation's largest independent mortgage lender, has joined American Express and several other financial organizations in using The Work Number® from TALX Corp. for automated, outsourced salary and employment verifications.
Now, employees at Countrywide Home Loans, Inc. can obtain more efficient confirmation of their employment and salary.
''Incorporating TALX into our system has provided our employees with a simple, automated employment verification tool. The transition has been quite smooth considering we have more than 15,000 employee records currently on the PeopleSoft database,'' said Irma Granger, project leader of HRIS for Countrywide Home Loans. ''The Work Number has enhanced operating procedures and enabled our staff to focus on non-routine employee issues.''
''We believe this announcement continues to demonstrate The Work Number's broad appeal to organizations that want to improve service to their employees, reduce administrative paperwork and outsource routine tasks to improve efficiencies,'' said Bill Canfield, president and CEO of TALX. ''Both large and small financial organizations are outsourcing employment verification to TALX using The Work Number. Our client list includes several regional banks, some of which have fewer than 10,000 employees,'' he noted.
About The Work Number
Typically before a lender grants a loan, he or she contacts the loan applicant's employer to verify the employee's employment and salary. Companies that employ thousands of people are deluged with such requests for information and incur significant administrative costs to process them. The Work Number service offers employers an automated solution by allowing companies to feed their payroll records into a national database. With appropriate security clearances, lenders and other organizations can access the database automatically to verify the information.
Organizations that outsource salary verification using The Work Number service include: the state of California, Hewlett-Packard, J.C. Penney, Microsoft, Motorola, Procter & Gamble, Quaker Oats, Sears Roebuck & Co., the state of Florida, the state of Missouri, Sun Microsystems, Tenet Healthcare Corp., and the Department of Agriculture (USDA). A complete client list and additional information about The Work Number can be obtained by calling 1-800-888-8277, visiting the Web site at theworknumber.com or sending an e-mail to moreinfo@talx.com.
