Yesterday there was another apparent case of ticker trouble. Take a look at this:

According to CNBC, traders were confusing this with Ticketmaster Online's symbol, which is TMCS. It's an OTC BB so I don't think it could have been shorted even if one had spotted it in time. A sharp market maker might have made a buck or two though.

I'm about as far from being a trader as you can get, so I don't carry around one of those stock alert pagers. If I did, I think I'd start making a habit of plugging in the symbol of every stock which remotely resembles the ticker symbol for new, hot IPO's.
