Chris, Jury and other leapers.

As a fellow leaper just curious as to how you make the decision on whether to buy calls/puts vs long/short the stock. I generally purchase leaps to gain leverage and limit potential loss. It certainly seems cheaper than buying on margin. I also try to avoid high dividend stocks leaps as leapers don't participate in the portion of profit used to pay them. I also use leaps for both "trading" and "investing". In the investing mode I rotate from Jan99 to Jan00 to Jan01 etc. usually holding 2 expirations simultaneously but almost never being totally out of a stock that I have positive long term expectations. In trading mode its "hit and run".
