Thread,
Oh, I'm finally starting to understand it.
1. Northern Telecom bought Bay Networks.
2. Bay Networks owned LANcity.
3. Now Northern Telecom is going to give up LANcity to Arris.
4. Arris is still a joint venture between NT and ANTC.
5. But since NT is giving up LANcity, they want something for it.
6. So ANTC has to give up something in return.

So is this a good thing? Arris has voice over cable products(Cornerstone), so it makes sense to add cable modems(LANcity) to the portfolio of products they can offer. It appears they are trying to make Arris a one-stop shop for voice over cable products. Doesn't sound like such a bad idea, ONCE you figure it all out.

DenverTechie, Didn't you say you were very impressed with Cornerstone's voice over cable products before? Wouldn't Arris control of LANcity modems make the Cornerstone product even more atractive to MSO's looking for a more complete, "turnkey package," to deliver voice over cable products?
Thanks,
MikeM(From Florida)
