L, this is just very typical market maker manipulation that will happen on most stocks.

The early trading is to a large extent the amatuers; a lot of working people entering market buy orders before they go off to work, etc. The MM's will try to run the stock up at the open as much as they can to fill these buy orders as high as possible, and then try to bring it back down to purchase stock cheaper than where they just sold it.
