Do you know the date the stock splits?
Jan 5th is the split date.

Here's the press release:
Stockholders will receive two additional shares for every share held on the record date of December 18, 1998. The additional shares will be mailed or delivered on or about January 4, 1999

Won't the split be on Dec 18th? And "on or about Jan 4th" is a date 2 business weeks later on which the paperwork will catch up? Otherwise, what if I purchase share on Dec 21? Either (a) those shares have to get split, or (2) I'm purchasing post-split shares. If (a) is true, and Jan 4th is the split date, then announcing Dec 18 as a record date is arbitrary. I'm betting on (2).
