The Boy Scouts is a private organization- while you may disagree with their ideals they have every right to have them. My husband's family were in scouting since the 40's- and while we are agnostic I understand their commitment ot God and country.

I am no Christian zealot- as you know- but just because atheists are a minority doesn't mean they (and you) can't be zealots too- you just aren't as dangerous since you are in the minority. Private organizations that want to believe a certain way have every right to exist any way they choose. It is against the Constitution of this country to force an organization, which wants its members to believe in God, to admit members who avowedly do no- just as it would violate the Constitution to force atheist organizations to admit card carrying avowed Christians. We have a right to exclude whom we want (although in my opinion that right to free association has been sadly limited by the commerce clause).
