Christine, I agree with you, both about the Jewish experience during WWII and in Israel/Palestine. I was very surprised to hear a Jewish man I know recently defending the ouster of the Palestinians after WWII on the grounds that the Palestinians "lived in tents," "were nomadic," and "did not need the land, unlike farmers."

I explained to him that the Palestinians lived in villages, some were farmers, some had shops, they were not nomads. But he already knew everything, so it was in vain.
