*WARNING TO ALL FOLLOWERS OF BOB BRINKER* and other bullish investors I just experienced quite a shock. I really had no idea of the size of the problem I am about to relate until about 15 minutes ago. As soon as I discovered my problem, I immediately thought of the followers of this thread, for YOU VERY WELL COULD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!! Let me preface my comments by saying that I really have not done anything extraordinary; I've just followed Bob's buying opportunity advice. When he called for the "gift horse buying opportunities," I became a little more aggressive with my investments. When he warned his listeners of excessive levels of bullishness and unrealistic expectations, when he urged his listeners to pay attention to their asset allocation and rebalance if necessary, I followed his advice. So what happened tonight to cause my alarm??? The answer is simple: I computed my year-to-date capital gains and losses. I had no idea of the capital gains tax bill I'm facing. I urge all Bob Brinker followers to immediately calculate their capital gains tax liability! Don't let it surprise you on April 15, 1999. Best wishes, I2
