Just for a laugh check out the market cap. of PMC Sierra (PMCS). It's almost $2 Billion!

Their head office, executive and design engineering staff are all located next door to Spectrum! The two companies even share the same landlord.
The companies location in Canada is not THE problem. Few people understand dsp or Spectrum. If you want to understand if the company is credible speak with some of their fortune 500 customers. Does Boeing Siemens Hewlett Packard Nortel Kodak the US DOD the US Navy Dept to name a few mean anything. Does the companys iso certification mean anything. Does the rarity of a small Canadian technology firm following the Us reporting rules mean anything. Does the award as technology company of the year in BC [just like PMCS] not add credability. The fact is people don't understand what the company does and just how long and in takes to turn into a win. And once an oem goes with Spectrum they must sell product into their distribution channels. This takes time Spectrum has grown at 30% yr til 98. The slowdown was not due to anything the company controlled. IMO its ludicrous for a company with the talent and potential of spectrum to have a market cap of 30 M the Hurricane chip alone is worth that. People are ignorant of dsp and dsp applications. They are ignorant of how talented and in demand the engineering talent at Spectrum is. That wont last forever. The company will be profitable and big with investors just as it is big with oem customers. When I listen to Brown Brothers downgrade TI at 45 because it has focused on dsp too much I realize that technology analyst are ignorant as well. They just don't get it. As the digital age begins to mature they'll get it cause it will be all around em and someone will make a lot of money developing the applications. After all Spectrum is despite its size the largest dsp applications house in an industry that is just beginning to crawl and will in the next few years will grow to control much of the machines and functions in our lives. I am glad some here get it. Although the return on investment hasn't happened yet it will. I am betting heavily on it.
Regards
Norden
