Tomsr, I have visited numerous compressor sites throughout Alberta and everyone has auxillary battery power which should supply power for 10 to 15 minutes and after that generators the size of Honda's. Just in case you are unfamiliar with the major delivery points for natural gas in Alberta they are located at Empress and Coleman and deliver 10100 mmcf/d of natural gas out of Alberta each day. Pipeline operations are monitored and controlled by TCPL in BC/Alta/Sask/Man/Ont/Que and the majority of the sites actually run on natural gas not electricity. My guess is gas will continue to flow and a Y2K patch will be available on the Net. Just in case you didn't know AEC runs a rather large gas storage facility in Alberta so having another in the USA where a few pipeline tolls could be avoided makes sense. Watch EAS move next year once more info on the project is disclosed.
