Integration of Novell Embedded Systems Technology (NEST) Development and Marketing with Core Product and Technology Groups

In a meeting held today with NEST employees, Novell announced the
integration of NEST Office Automation Products into Novell core product and technology groups for future development and marketing. The NEST, division is organized into two major initiatives: office automation, which includes embedded server technology; and powerline and gateway technologies.

This transition is designed to develop and market embedded systems
technology as solutions that add value to Novell's core print and
directory services. The office automation products and technologies
will become part of the Internet Access Division (IAD), and embedded
server technology will be folded into the Internet Infrastructure
Division (IID).

Novell is actively seeking investment and development partners for the
powerline and gateway technologies; the future structure of those
organizations and the deployment of their employees will be determined
by the outcome of this search.

Of the approximately 60 NEST employees, some have already transferred to non-related jobs within Novell, and others will do so in the near
future. Some will transfer to IAD and IID with NEST product
responsibilities as the product and technology integration proceeds, and several marketing employees were offered voluntary separation packages at this morning's meeting. If any NEST employees are unable to find jobs through these alternative options, there may be involuntary separations.
