Know what you mean Clint... but I'd reverse 'airheads' to read heads full of air. Not really the participants fault. There are two phenomena which are new to the market.

One.. day trading on public scale that exceeds institutional scale soon. In and out in one to five days means (mostly intraday) means a huge volatility will be applied to whatever stock is in the news. There are patterns to this which can be exploited. Heavy running in the morning.. you know there will be some selling to get out by dinnertime and the same with the shorting.

Two.. yesterday I heard an ad on car radio that said Schulman or somthing like that.. will let you trade "their" money on an intraday basis if you are a series 7. "No need to worry about capital or using someone else's money, use ours," the enthusiastic voice rang out. Wow, no need to worry, just sign up and trade and make money having fun! While this seems to be the leading edge of nonsense... like being given "free" money to gamble when you get off the plane in Las Vegas, its a new wrinkle that goes to the general public. Many day trading houses serving coffee, computer screens and live MSNBC are springing up around the country as a way to pass the time. I'll wager right now that the traditional "leisure" clubs like Playboy and NY Athletic etc, will see the light and open trading rooms with first class service...

..... and how about the first class lounge at airports... "Excuse me, may we offer you an options trade, straddle, currency swap, or some other derivative on your trip to San Francisco?"
