You really think the modest statement "lots of it" re money for the Q from licenses (and ASICs et al) is disproved by your assertion that the Q could make "more" from direct sales - i.e. go the Apple route - zero licensees?

Logic flawed and application impractical. :-)

Suggest that LU chose not to concentrate on handsets - hence the spin off of handsets to the joint venture with Phillips holding majority interest - i.e. LU got rid or handset production as low priority.

Case that LU "unable" to design and produce CDMA chips not proved.

Also suggest that volume handset production is low priority for the Q. The Q just wishes to push the handset innovation envelope especially re data and internet access - hence modest handset production.

But Nokia is king of handsets volume production - no contest.

Note: Reason I suggest that "Qualcomm and Nokia - together the world" is that the two companies are highly complimentary.
