So, uh, Doug <<I'll tell you EXACTLY where you'll go if you are a smart seller. You will go to eBay. First, on something like a camcorder, eBay only takes about 3 percent IF it reaches your desired price. The 5 percent is only on the first $25. Example: $2 listing fee, 5 percent of the first $25 and 2.5 percent after that. Let's say your camcorder brings $500. Your total eBay fees are $15.12, or about 3 percent. (On Yahoo, you probably wouldn't sell it because there are SO FEW BIDDERS. They've got the sellers, but not the buyers.)>>
this differs little from ONSL's model. Percent in the game. traffic at ONSL is increasing by the month, the amount of traffic relative to revenue is greater at ONSL than at EBAY currently. ONSL has a growing person to person site. doubt Yahoo will sit on it's duff regarding the person to person. More likely, Yahoo's person to person will quickly become the second most visited site behind Ebay, if not equal - the reason: More people still click onto Yahoo each day than onto Ebay. If you're a "smart marketing feller" you'll list your goods at both Yahoo and at Ebay. The advantage of Yahoo's listings over Ebays is that Yahoo doesn't charge for the listing, Ebay does. How long can Ebay compete with this model? They'll need to stop charging, and/or raise prices. |
