Absolutely agree with you, except about the military part- not sure that was Baden-Powells vision. He just wanted to get boys outdoors doing things that would improve them physically and make them better citizens. I am not an "organization" person. I basically agree with no one and I always think my way is best and am not afraid to admit it...here. In the real world I keep my mouth shut and no longer join anything- unless I have to for my kids benefit. As for those ogre/tyrants who like to run things- God bless 'em- they end up doing all the work. Do I give a sh&t if they want to be itty bitty dictators? No, not as long as they want to organize those canned food drives (boyscouts) and cookie sales (girlscouts)- because I really really don't want to do that. I am tired of managing volunteers- THAT is a task akin to herding cats- it takes a real DICTATOR to do it and that is not me, nor you, obviously.
