Does anyone know yet what the initial oder for Rugrats was?

I'd like to make a gentlemens bet with TW over Rugrats and Revenge. When I spoke with him, he considered Revenge to possibly be THQI's biggest game ever. I thought Rugrats might be the one to claim that honor. I think it is going to come down to initial shipment size, since it is becoming very obvious demand for both products is HUGE. Hey Todd, would you like to put a wooden nickel on it?

I maintain that Rugrats will have an extended shelf life, and considering the N64 version release early next year will probably create another buying surge, I think I may just have this bet locked up :o)

There already is another Rugrats movie in the works by the way ... oh, I didn't know that, oops! Straw poll time, how many people have NOT seen some sort of Rugrats promotion this past month? That's a sucker bet, and remember THQI was savvy enough to let this part take care of itself, focusing their marketing dollars directly at their target audience. Thank you Sony, thank you Burger King, thank you Nickelodeon; think what this says about these leading companies opinion of THQI, it really is quite a compliment to THQI if you think about it.

So ... where do we go from here? Given THQI's tendency to select proven winners to build a product around, development efforts will probably be nothing of a suprise when they are announced. However, I think distribution (especially in Europe & England) is a potential area where we will see some more activity. Maybe a nice distributor in England, so THQI can shove another 500K units of Rugrats and Revenge out the door. Wouldn't that be nice?

Big FAT quarter, that's what this one is shaping up to be! Before anyone criticizes THQI for not producing enough units for the holiday season, I think it's important to remember it is EXACTLY because of their outstanding inventory management that we don't get burned with dead inventory. In the long run, I will always prefer a few missed sales to burning a bunch of useless crap. We can always grow over the long-haul right?

Rugrat Regards, JB (aka "that Rugrats guy")
