Scott: I really don't think that EP is going to make the same mistake twice. That was a pretty humiliating experience and I'm sure that Compaq doesn't want it to happen again, either.
As far as CNBC, IBD, TSC and the like bashing CPQ, I think you're right, but I sure don't think it's subliminal! As I've said before, CPQ and DELL have consciously decided to be in a battle for world domination - who knows why? Big egos is my guess. There are an awful lot of people who own DELL, "the stock of the decade" in their 401Ks, etc. including TV and newspaper people. I think they view CPQ as a threat to their retirement plans! I've even fiddled with the notion of anti-German sentiment playing a role. Yes, it's very frustrating.
