I also performed the same analysis for the '00 Leaps. I'm not going to take the time to post the details, but, while the '99 Leaps showed
a loss, the '00 Leaps showed a gain of 2.3% vs. the gain of .8% on the
DJIA stocks. Seems to confirm what most of you know, go long.
My TA gave me a sell signal on BKX on Thursday and the OEX on Friday.
I'm not buying into the concept yet. The OEX actually bounced off its
daily moving average very nicely. In fact, all the sector indexes I'm
watching (except XAU) are trading over their moving average.
Again, my indicators will not work in a trading range. Further, I
believe that the Indexes were so far above their MA that a sell-off to
the MA would trigger a false sell signal. But, things are looking a
bit weaker. The 25 day NYSE A/D line has a chance to go negative this
week. Further, the flows to the mutual funds were negative last week
for the first time since the beginning of October.
The warning signs are in place, but I cannot determine a direction as
of yet. BWDIK
