I also think that cable will win but there will be no clear winner for a while, since each technology does different things well. G.Lite DSL allows multiple POTS (regular analog) phone lines over a single pair, along with high speed data - much like T1. Cable does a better job with streaming content but is not as flexible. Cable touches more households today but that is deceptive since there is little back channel capability and even the forward channels are being strained by the content subscribers are demanding, and the market is in its infancy. @home is limiting subscribers to 10 minutes of streaming video per day or some such nonsense.

That's why CPQ is working initiatives on both fronts (satellite too actually) - they want to get the bandwidth out there whatever it takes.
