David, I have heard of the slowdown problems and that concerns me. I have also heard that there is a 10 meg download limit, I don't know if that's true or not. If it is that precludes the use of streaming video as well as the download of some of the larger demo programs from the web. I was also watching a program on ZDTV called The Screensavers. They have a large following from what I have read. Anyway the host made the comment that he had the slowdown problem and was aware of the download limit. His comment was that it was tough to believe especially when @Home had something over 200K customers. He finally said, "I wonder what it will be like when they really start to get busy." The same question you are asking, except he did it on a national cable TV show. If they begin to have the perception that they are slow and have problems, subscribers will shy away. The company needs to get a handle on these problems ASAP.
