RE: With demand picking up, component prices stabilizing and less competition for IOM one can't help but wonder whether all these factors add up to a rather positive
Just received a 36 page catalog from D&H and as I was bowsing thru it I couldn't help but notice the numbers of manufacturers for the many different categories. I mean page after page of monitors, modems, video cards, scanners, joy sticks, mice and track balls, printers, cd drives, cameras, keyboards, and speakers etc . You could take any one of these categories and count 8 competing manufacturers or more, all of these guys face fierce competition. Just as the retail ads suggest there isn't competition when it comes to removable storage, Zip dominates the market And has become the hi-density standard, it's blatantly apparent.
One of the developments that I've noticed lately is the varied prices that ATAPI Zip is showing. They have covered the price range from $45.00 at buycomp.com to $99.00 retail. Market domination thru predatory pricing will be a requirement to replace the 1.44 floppy. Looks like the retail price is prepared to go down to the $45.00 range and at $45.00 retail this guy IMO replaces the 1.44 floppy
IMO folks we are on the verge of getting where many thought we would get to. Regards Reseller |
