Page Two.

The new VBR encoder is one of the few to meet Hollywood's standards. Alex noted that LSI withdrew their Encoder from the market and IBM would not have an impact on 1997 encoder sales. The only mention of E4 was here. He said it would be out this year. No date, and no questioner asked.

Alex talked up their renewwed interest in PC's. He basically said they were starting to target PC, because Digital Video will reqire hardwear, no microprocessor can do it allone.

He also commented about the, "first generation DVD players that they OEM's are showing are too expensive. He said that two significant price points were $350 and $500. He stated that CUBE would hit sub $500, this year. He expected several OEM's to buy their Digital Video Chip.

Over and over, both Burke and Balkanski said that VCD was not that seasonal. The $100-$125 VCD player was sited.

In DVD, Alex said that the competition was not as great in DVD as it was in the set-top box. Cool. I'm stopping for now. But it was a good report.
