Churches are behind the support for both major parties. The liberal, socialist churches support the Democrats. After all, Christ was a socialist. I find it hard to take economic advise from someone who never worked for a living and wandered the land being provided food and shelter for giving speeches and performing magic. Just ask any of the modern day preachers (Jesse Jackson, Jim Baaker, et al.) or the self-help gurus (L Ron Hubbard, et al.) who made a great living off of speaking.
