Most certainly we all appreciate your comment, but:... Have you ever hold a ZIP drive in one hand and a CD rom in the other hand. And actually know what they are and how they work?
I mean comparing a CD-ROM with a ZIP drive is like comparing a Merchant Cargo ship with a Cyclist/Messanger/carrier downtown NewYork. What is the correlation?
Just to give you an idea on how different are they and their correlation.. Cdrom Holds 680Megs, Zip 100Megs, Jaz 1000 Megs. CD-rom (CompactDisk-ReadOnlyMemory) is read only, can't write to them unless you have a Writeable CD-rom drive which is rather expensive, and can write to them (ONCE).
Jazz and ZIP, can be written to and read from quiet a few more times than just ONCE. CD-ROM access/seek times, in the hundreds of miliseconds.. Jazz and ZIps in the tens of miliseconds.
Granted a CD-ROM cost cents to make, but how many times do you get to use it? How many times can you back up things on a CD-ROM. Cd-roms Holds 680Megs. Jazz Holds 1024 Megs.
I fail to See your logic in thinking cd-roms are better than IOMEGA jazz/zip drives. They each have a different purpose. If I only need a media from which I can read from, of course I will only use cd-roms. But The main Idea behing Jazz/Iomega, is the ability to store/read/write/erase large ammounts of info arther easily and quickly...
