Mohan,
Hi!!

RE: I think Dell's strategy here is to attack Compaq where it hurts, right here. Compare the prices of the DELL and CPQ and the configuration of the two systems, one is powerful the other so so.

Your entire summation was very well put...I enjoyed the comparisons...competition is fierce and the Dell model is not to be beaten...every time we talked to Dell employees in Austin all we heard was "the model....the model....the model.." The ability to turn on a dime creates a staggering advantage....of course this is old news...some still don't understand the reasons behind the success of Dell...most of us have a small knowledge of what they are doing...combined I think we have a fairly decent shot and knowing we could pass a test on Dell and their strategy...what I find interesting is the others are attempting to emulate Dell now....took them how long to figure this out??....desperately now they are entering this arena...."WE FIND THIS AMUSING"...msd

Awhile back the "Consortium" article.....still has me smiling....Dell has the others exactly where Dell wants them....worrying about Dell.. :o)

Best, kemble
