From what I've seen in advertisements and in my company's conference rooms, both Polycom and USR have similarly designed conference phones (they look like a 3 legged starfish). My guess is that the dispute between Polycom and USR had to do with the licensing or patent issues dealing with these phone designs.

That's all I presume. I would guess there are other readers who are more in the know.
