Notes on using Drive Image with Zip Parallel:

(Yes, ZP, I have joined the collective with DI, Magic Mover, Partition Magic Boot Magic and some Anti-virius stuff that came with the set.<g>)

Drive Image currently ships with a little blue piece of paper in the box which warns, amoung other things, to expect a hang if you attempt to use Zip Parallel with a network client. I tried it, the system does hang as the Iomega driver looks for the Zip Drive. (Syquest got tarred with the same brush.)

To go directly to the point: I now have a second hardware profile set up:

Original Config: Zip Parallel disabled here.
NoNet - YesZip: Ethernet Adapter disabled here.

I get a 1 vs. 2 choice at boot. But I will try pulling the zip off the parallel port and rebooting to see if PNP figures it out on his own just as soon as I post this, take out the garbage, etc.

As always, any pointers on a better way to get from A to B appreciated. Thanks.

I did backup my current Win98 partition onto 2 Zip100 disks using high compression. Took 20-30 minutes.

PS
Spots, possibly you are already aware but if not FYI, Magic Mover (comes with Drive Image) has functionality to handle drive letter change maintenence. Couldn't tell you if it works, just that something is there.

Paul
