Walk down the street sometime and ask people if they recognize the name Amazon and then ask about Barnes and Noble. I believe you will find mainstreams knows the name Barnes and Noble better.

This is certainly true. And as far as the net advertising awareness goes, I have seen over a dozen barnsandnobel.com ads on the mainstream TV shows this weekend and not a single amazon commercial.

B&N has admitted in the past that they got dragged into this net BS by their heals 'cause they knew it was a loser as a business. But now that they are into this trading stamp game they and their partners will keep amazon unprofitable and let it bleed to death. All B&N really has to do is break even on net books to accomplish this. Same goes for all the other lines amazon can try out like toys, drugs, sex, etc. -g-
