I've been looking into ADSL and @home as well. @home is currently available in the Pittsburgh area but not where I live. However, I just checked this morning and they said it was available in my "area". Maybe now I can get it. I must say, however, that limiting video downloads to 10 minutes is causing me to explore ADSL. ADSL is available in Pittsburgh through Bell Atlantic but not in my area. If the pricing plans are close - say $50/mo for 300K or more both ways and total upfront costs between $150 and $200, I may go for it. I also understand that MCIWorldcom will be offering ADSL service in my area next year. I would much prefer them over the local phone company.
