RE: Dr. Fell

Bartlett's (13th), p. 293 gives this as:

I do not love thee, Doctor Fell,
The reason why I cannot tell;
But this alone I know full well,
I do not love thee, Doctor Fell.

and attributes it to Thomas Brown [1663-1704} while a student
at Christchurch, Oxford.
A footnote gives an earlier possible sources in Latin in Martial's Epigrams and in French to the Comte de Bussy-Rabutin
