It seems to me that AMZN is now in the improvisation phase, and is trying to sit on two chairs at once : being an e-tailer, and being an information/media company. These 2 businesses, IMO, are mutually exclusive, and trying to leverage one with the other will lead them to lose credibility in both areas, and will result in their existing customers leaving them. (You cannot be a travel agent and an airline at the same time.) This is just the latest sign that their business plan has failed.
