The "we" in this quote is likely referring to Bre-X's Indonesian partner on Busang II, PT Askatindo Karya Mineral. Hasan, according to the latest reports, is now a 50 percent owner of this Indonesian company.

I do agree with you that this is a very interesting comment, given that Hasan appears to strongly favour an open bidding process, and given that he is apparently closely allied to Suharto.

If Askatindo could somehow derail the Barrick train, then this thing could be thrown wide open, regardless of what Said and Sudjana suggest.

P.S. In light of Said's recent comments, which inexpicably seem to ignore or dismiss the Placer bid, even though the Placer bid offers a larger piece of the pie to the Indonesians, and to favour ABX above all other contenders, is it not apparent that Said (and Sudjana?) are under Barrick's influence, perhaps through Tutut's control?
