Oh yes, I'm going to hold on--I would
guess that the downside risk is alot
less here on Pairgain. If the market
crashes and takes pair down even further,
I'd really load up if it got down around
book value. My understanding (albeit very
basic understanding) is that xDSL is the
future and there will be a mad scramble as
the clec's start really moving on this.
You will see deals between ISP's and the
local phone companies, and regionals too,
it will be the last phase of internet
mania...finally getting a lot of folks
speedy connections--about time.

The more I learn about the threat from cable,
the less impressed I am with them...but of
course a little education is a dangerous
thing. Just because cable is hackable and
a much more expensive upgrade than say g.lite
is for the clec's, doesn't mean things wont
change, but from where I sit right now, the
telcos have a huge advantage.

Like I said, I probably know just enough to
hurt myself! Here is a thread for newbies to xDSL

I just found it and still have more reading to do, but
I feel less nervous about pair now for sure, and hell,
I'm in cheap, the poor bastards who knew all this stuff
a few months ago got creamed, I'm very lucky I didn't
start getting pissed at my v.90 modem til now!

Good luck out there...
Mike
